About the Beltie Youth Group
The Beltie Youth Group strives to promote an effective organization, whereby junior breeders can join together for mutual assistance and promotion. Our purpose is to promote a comprehensive program to benefit members, contribute to the popularity, promotion and betterment of the Belted Galloway breed,
and cooperate with existing animal industry agencies as well as regional
Belted Galloway groups and The Belted Galloway Society, Inc. The Beltie Youth Group (BYG) is comprised of junior members ages 8 to 21 years of age. We also nurture a group of peewees (pre 8-year-ods) for our program as they become of age.
Our leadership structure consists of a Belted Galloway Society, Inc. Council
member to direct the Beltie Youth Group plus 6 area leaders or leader teams.
The Beltie Youth Group cultivates leadership and fellowship through promotions
and educational and fun-type activities with Belted Galloway cattle. We
teach that showing is for learning and fun, not just winning. We sponsor
BYG shows and try to support any junior showing anywhere in the United
States. Several programs are available through the Beltie Youth Group –
our national semen project, The Kathi Jurkowski National Belted Galloway
Show (held in Louisville, KY during November of each year) and regional
breeding programs which may include steer projects and heifer projects.
It is the goal of the Beltie Youth Group to inspire juniors to become outstanding
Belted Galloway breeders and citizens.
